NAR (New Left Current) for the Communist Liberation denounces Turkish police’ s attack against ceremonies held across the country to commemorate the victims of Suruc massacre.
On July 20, 2015, an ISIS suicide bomber detonated explosives outside Suruç Municipality’s Cultural Center as militants prepared to travel to Kobane in Rojava to aid in the town’s reconstruction following its liberation from ISIS forces. The attack claimed the lives of 33 people.
7 years later, the state is still afraid of people’s struggle for justice. As protesters in Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara attempted to march, they were stopped by the police who formed a human blockade. Several protestors were brutally detained. This is an organized attack against the mass movement, students, unions, and the left of Turkey. The state of Erdogan and its mechanisms continuously attacks in order to create fear, in order to terrorize the great resistance movement developed throughout Turkey.
We express our solidarity to the working class and the people of Turkey, unions, and organizations. We will be joining our voices with the people in Turkey, to defend the just demands of living in freedom. We need to build up our international solidarity and common struggle against fascism and totalitarianism that appears in many forms, against exploitation. Against capitalism and imperialism.
We will continue to fight shoulder to shoulder!
- Freedom to People, Death to fascism
- Our fights will honor our dead
- Struggle against imperialism, fascism and war. Fight for our democratic rights and freedom.
